DAYTON, Ohio, July 30, 2010 – Honeywell (NYSE: HON) First Responder Products (HFRP) the makers of Morning Pride and Ranger protective clothing for firefighters, announced today the launch two new personal escape systems -- Class II Spider Harness System™ and Life Grip™ Ladder / Escape Belt.
Over 20 years ago Morning Pride invented and perfected the idea of a bunker pant with an integrated escape harness and since that time has manufactured and sold more Class II harness pants than any other bunker gear manufacturer. Now, Morning Pride is raising the bar and redefining a new and higher standard for firefighter’s personal escape harnesses and belts.
Honeywell First Responder Products gathered voice of the customer, including input from end users and instructors with extensive knowledge and hands on experience in escape systems, as well as confined space and high angle rescue. They gave us a long list of goals that at times sounded almost impossible to achieve but, after months of designing, refining and testing, the results are in and both products have met every one of those goals.
The smooth pant adaptation of the new Class II Spider Harness System™ is nothing like anything you’ve seen.
- The pants provide a right-over-left closure with internal zipper and Velcro® fly.
- The waist belt is external for easy access while the leg loops are between the shell and liner to provide “snag free” piece of mind.
- The harness closure system is securely mounted to the pant with the D-Ring on the fly and the snap hook on the left front pant panel which allows the same donning and doffing procedure of a regular bunker pant. It’s so intuitive firefighters take to it immediately.
- This allows the A-Frame to extend to the right hip where it can be pre-connected to your rescue/descent system.
- The legs loop tension is adjustable and is easily accessible even when wearing a hip mounted Rescue Bag, so tightening the legs quickly is still not a problem.
That final feature is what really separates the Class II Spider Harness System™ from all others. Because of what it can do that no other integrated bunker pant system can…with a simple tug on the externally accessible leg loop take up straps, you instantly go from donning and doffing configuration, where looser leg loops allow you to stow your pants over your boots, to snug and ready for action.
You can even loosen the leg loops while still wearing your bunker pants. Just locate the leg loops adjuster hardware inside the pant shell with your thumb and work it down and away from the waist belt.
The pant adaptation of the new Life Grip™ Ladder / Escape Belt is exactly like the Class II Spider Harness System™ pant adaptation minus the leg loop pass through slots in the pant outer shell.
